Successful Work Party
On December 14, Grande Maumelle Sailing Club members gathered for a work party to install a silt fence at Kiko’s Corner, officially kicking off the site’s restoration.
Braving a rainy day, over 20 volunteers donned boots and rain gear, armed themselves with shovels, and got to work digging trenches and securing the silt fence around the construction area. This fence is a critical first step in protecting the environment by preventing soil erosion as the project progresses.
“This work party was an important first step in restoring Kiko’s Corner,” said Mary Michaels, Club Commodore. “It’s exciting to see our members come together to tackle such an essential part of the process.”
The day wasn’t just about digging; it was also an opportunity for club members to connect and build camaraderie. Volunteers of all ages worked side by side, united by their shared commitment to improving the club and protecting the environment.
“Even on a rainy day, our members showed incredible dedication,” Michaels added. “It’s moments like these that remind us of the strength and spirit of our community.”
Thanks to the hard work of the volunteers, the silt fence is now securely in place, providing vital protection to the area and ensuring that the restoration of Kiko’s Corner can move forward.
