About US Sailing

The United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) was established in 1897 and is headquartered in Bristol, Rhode Island. Its primary objectives include offering training and educational initiatives for instructors and race officials, supporting various sailing communities and organizations, issuing offshore rating certificates, and overseeing competitive sailing nationwide, including the National Championships and the US Sailing Team. At the core of its mission lies a commitment to fostering sailing participation and excellence through education, competition, and equal opportunity while adhering to principles of fair play, sportsmanship, and safety.

Championship of Champions: A Tradition of Excellence

Since its inception in 1976, the Championship of Champions has been a beacon of excellence in the sailing world. Organized by US Sailing, this prestigious regatta brings together up to nineteen competitors who have achieved national, North American, or World championship titles within their respective classes. Named in honor of Jack Brown, a distinguished figure renowned for his service as a judge, regatta organizer, and US Sailing Committee member, the Championship is a testament to the highest standards of sailing.
